My wife and I and another couple are planning to visit Vermont this July. Thinking about staying
around Lake Champlain and riding 4 to 5 days hoping to stay at one spot, with options for different
rides everyday from same starting spot. My wife will sag drive for us, she likes to do some antique

Sounds like a good hike John. I'll bet the couple from Illinois were glad to reach the shelter.
I can just imagine the hassle hiking in, unknown, rough terrain not knowing who they might run into,
and they ran into you. You mentioned Kathy's pack weighed 35lbs and yours weighed 54lbs, but in
the photos it appears Kathy was carrying the biggest pack. Could be an opticle illusion though.
